Lightning Assist provides three powerful helper windows to access and manage your text expansion resources: Quick Access Window, Replacement Window, and Multiple Resources Window. Each window serves a specific purpose to help you work more efficiently.

Quick Access Window (Alt + C on Windows; ⌥ + C on macOS)

The Quick Access Window gives you instant access to all your text expansion resources. Press Alt+C anywhere to open a searchable window with all your resources. Find and paste any resource instantly, without leaving your current application.

Key Features

  • Fixed Hotkey: Press Alt+C from anywhere to open Quick Access. This hotkey cannot be customized and works system-wide.
  • Instant Search: Type to search through all your resources instantly. Results appear as you type.
  • Preview Resources: See resource content before pasting. Preview helps you find the right resource quickly.
  • One-Click Paste: Click on any resource or press Enter to paste it instantly into your current application.
  • Works Everywhere: Quick Access works in any application - email clients, word processors, code editors, browsers, terminals, and more.

How to Use Quick Access

  1. Press Alt+C from any application to open the Quick Access Window.
  2. Type to search through all your resources. Results filter as you type.
  3. Hover over or navigate to any resource to preview its content.
  4. Click on a resource or press Enter to paste it into your current application.
  5. Press Escape or click outside the window to close Quick Access.

Replacement Window

The Replacement Window lets you preview text expansion resources before pasting them. See exactly what will be pasted, make adjustments if needed, and ensure accuracy before the text appears in your document.

  • Edit Content: Make adjustments to the content before pasting. Edit text, fix formatting, or customize variables.

  • Cancel Option: Close the window without pasting if you change your mind.

How to Use Replacement Window

  1. Trigger a resource by typing your shortcut and pressing your trigger key, or select a resource from Quick Access.
  2. The Replacement Window opens showing the content that will be pasted.
  3. Review the content to ensure it's correct. Check formatting, variables, and text.
  4. Make any adjustments to the content before pasting. Edit text, fix formatting, or customize variables.
  5. Click "Paste" to insert the content, or "Cancel" to close without pasting.

How to Use Multiple Resources Window

  1. Open Multiple Resources Window from Lightning Assist or use the dedicated built-in hotkey.
  2. Browse or search for resources and select the one you need.
  3. Double click on it or press Enter to use it at your cursor position.
